Driver Backup Issues

At the outset of talking about this in relation to Windows 10, it is worth noting that within the typical Instillation / Re instillation process has apparently a very good automatic search and update Driver facility towards the end of the Instillation / Re instillation process. So for the case of a typical Windows 10 Instillation / Re instillation you may not need to do anything after to gat all your devices working correctly

When we discus these sort of things, we usually are talking about the
_ back up
And the
_ re instillation, (## or checking thereof, since the re instillation may get done automatically sometimes )
It is worth noting at this point, that the ways to do these two steps are often mixed up a bit: In other words you may use one way to back up, and then vary which way you use to re install, assuming that you need to##

I think the theme of “backing up of Drivers” can be summarised quite easily, and I am surprised that no one has done it yet. Most information on the internet and in YouTube Tutorials seems quite patchy. This possibly reflects the mixed up and hap hazard way that it may be done by people in the praxis

Most of the Files required to do an effective back up are kept at a couple of locations, something along the lines of

In addition a few may be somewhere else.

The way to check for where the software is to look in the Device Manager , select the devices , and then look at their properties:
One way to find the Device Manager is to right click bottom left on the Microsoft Start Symblol, then look for it in the pop up list:

Or you can start typing in a search box somewhere something like devi .. and you will likely find your way there somehow

Once you have that main Window open , you can navigate with some mouse clicking and selecting until you find the shown Files location

You can then use the File explorer to find the file or files

Here is the list made manually from the Device Manager driver properties

All that backing up of Drivers really means is getting a copy of all those files.

The two main ways to do that are
_ An external software with a user friendly interface. ( Usually this can also be used later to re install the files )
_ manually copying and storing / or using short , CMD / Windows Shell , type command lines to semi automate copying and storing.
