Serial number to date formula

I have a set of serial numbers and individually i can easily obtain the year and month of product for them. However, I have a rather long list and would like to make it easier. The serial numbers start as W0A1*********. The 01 is the year and the A is the month (in this case Jan). Is there a code I can use to pull this information automatically in excel 2013?

Did you want a formula or VBA? Mid() would be used in both. Where is the day in that or is day 1 sufficient?
